Addicted to Lip Balm

Once upon a time there was a great Australian online store selling all the best brands of lip balm a girl could ever dream of.

It is now closed 😦

I did manage to pick up a pack of 29 lip balms (mostly stocking fillers/Christmas gifts) on sale before they closed down.

p.s. this little package smelt like a slice of heaven!

Have you ever ordered lip balm/gloss online?
Did you use A2LB?
Didn’t you think they had super customer service skills too?

New favourite lip gloss

Hi All,

When I said I’ve been busy lately, I was not kidding! There have been birthdays, more birthdays, and even more birthdays, plus work and all the usual life stuff.

Back to the birthdays, I was totally spoilt this year with awesome gifts from friends and family.

One of the great gifts was a lip plumping lipgloss from Soap & Glory with the funny name: sexymotherpucker!

I honetsly do not think it makes my lips any bigger, but I dont mind the tingling sensation (its a bit like the blistex medicated balm) and the scent is close to the Palmers Cocoa Butter Range.

It also helps that I have received compliments from different ladies at work every day in the last week, winner!

Do you use lip plumpers?
Have you tried this one?
Do you think they make any difference?

First Instagram challenge

I joined instagram a while ago – mostly to stalk  people look at pretty pictures while waiting around for busses, people, phone calls to end, people to turn up to meetings etc…

Anyway, I joined up to my first instagram challenge which was created by @foxinflats and it’s called #DAREcember.

It’s 3 days in and I am having fun with it, its n’t to late to join/catch up 🙂

Here is a peek of what is coming up. It’s interesting to see the different ways people interperate and photograph the suggestions.

If you want to see everyones pictures, download the instagram app on your phone and search using the hastag #DAREcember

Slack!

Hi all,

So as you can tell I have been a little slack on the blogging front lately.

I’m not a great writer and lately I’ve been too busy to draft, proof read and edit posts.

I am however a huge fan of taking pictures and update my Instagrm account daily!

Look up xdivx and you’ll find me.

Or just click here: http://instagram.com/xdivx/

See you on the flip side!

weekend away

I went away for the long weekend and was blessed to be in a place which had warm sunny weather and beautiful beaches. I also got to stay in a nice hotel, and you know what that means beauties?! MINI HOTEL TREATS!

My hotel is currently stocking Peter Morrisey branded skin/haircare products, and gee they smell nice!

I honestly have no idea how to describe the scent, the closest I can think if is The Body Shops Oceanus with jellybeans!

Thinking of getting a fringe (bangs)

Every few years I decide its a good idea to get a fringe ( or bangs if you’re in the US)

Then 3 months after getting said fringe, I decide it was a terrible idea and that it needs to grow out as soon as possible. This is usually ok as my hair grows pretty fast.

It’s been a good 3 years years since my last fringe, so when I saw this picture I fell in love with the idea all over again!

Recent purchases

Hi All,

Last week I stocked up on some favourite items.

The only new products in the photo which I have not tried is the Face of Australia Foundation & the Australis mascara.

I had recently switched to a natural deodorant and it just was not working for me. Priceline had a 2 for $5 sale so I picked up these Nivea roll ons to try. I’m usually a spray girl, but my recent experiment has left my armpits a bit sore. I hoped that rol on would be more kind/gentle to my irritated skin.

Both the Sukin moisturiser and cream cleanser are staples in my daily skincare routine.

Garnier body summer is the best gradual tanner I’ve tried yet. I buy a bottle every spring and summer.

Natio Toner is a fantastic dupe for the Jurlique rosewater mist (which I keep at my desk at work) I want to buy a small spray bottle and keep this in the fridge when it gets really hot here 🙂

My HG mascara is Diorshow, however I’m trying to save cash and switched to the Maybelline Colossal which is fine. The Australis one was on sale and has a huge brush, so I hope it works out!

Lastly, I posted a couple of months ago on my then current foundations – Since that post, I switched to Maybelline FIT Me and have found it goes a little oily around my T zone by about 3pm. Of course I could keep powder nearby and dab it on every afternoon, but I’d rather find “the perfect” foundation! Here’s hoping the Face of Australia product will make me happy 🙂

Are any of your favourites shown?

Anything you’d like to try?

Let me know if you want any details on the above products 🙂

August & September empties

Hi everyone,

Here is a picture of my August & September empties.

From L-R:

Nivea Invisible Deoderant – Not repurchasing. I don’t like the smell.

Original Source Extra Strong Black Mint Shower Gel – Already repurchased, the boyfriend LOVES it! It is very strong, I think it’ll be great in Summer.

Dr Bronners Magic Soap Almond Oil – Not repurchasing. I’ve tried the peppermint and citrus ones before. They lather nicely, but the natural oils sting my freshly shaved skin. If you don’t shave, or you’re not as sensitive as me you may like this brand. I thought Almond wouldn’t be as stingy as peppermint or citrus, I was wrong 😦

ulittlebeauty conditioner –  I really like this! It smells nice and conditions well. I’d like it to be a bit thicker, but I will try thing again.

ulittlebeauty shampoo – At first I was not sure about this. It made my hair feel really dry and straw like, after it washed out I received compliments on how healthy and shiny my hair looked, so yes a definite repurchase.

Natio Skin Toner – A staple in my skincare regime. LOVE!

Sukin Cream Cleanser – A new favourite. This does not remove waterproof mascara, but everything else goes. I also like the scent. Already repurchased.

Priceline Nail polish remover – Does the job. They all smell nasty, so I just purchase whatever is on sale at the time.

Sportsgirl Butter Dream in Mango – I like this, particularly good for moisturising dry areas like knees, elbows, ankles before applying fake tan. Some people may find the Mango scent too strong, but I like stronger smelling body lotions so I can skip the perfume some days.

The Body Shop Hand & Nail cream in Cherry Blossom – Moisturises well. Part way through the tube I got sick of the scent and it sat on the bed side table and in my handbag for a couple of months unloved.

Rexona Girl Deoderant – I used to use this all the time, it does the job but leaves white marks. Not repurchasing.

Pearl Drops toothpaste – Already repurchased. If I stop using this for a week I notice that my teeth aren’t as white as I’d like them to be. I buy this all the time.

MAC paint pot in Bare Study – I like the colour, but it does not have any staying power at all. Definitely not repurchasing.

Napolean Light Patrol – I paid for a makeup lesson @ Napolean and picked this up. Wish I hadn’t. Only 2 of the colours suit me. The product is hard and does not come out either on a brush or my fingertips. I carted this around in my handbag for months and ended up using it twice. Chucking this out. Def not repurchasing.

So thats it!

Tinted Moisturiser

Recently I participated in a fun run, and picked this up tinted moisturiser to trial for summer.

Normally I do not exercise with makeup on, however work had sponsored a team for the fun run which meant  I needed to turn up for a team photo after a 14km jog!!

Needless to say I wanted some light coverage to look semi-respectable for the team photo which was posted on the intranet for everyone to see!

What I liked about this product was:

  • The cost – $10.00!
  • The scent – is a lovely sea minerals smell
  • Availability – easy to find/replace when you run out

What I did not like about this product:

  • The colour – It was way too dark for my pale skin!
  • The coverage – I tested applying with fingers, also with a brush and all 4 times it was patchy.

If this was a lighter shade, I would try it again but they don’t so I won’t! Ahh well, onto the next one!

Would you buy this product?
Have you tried it?
What did you think?

July/August Empties

I thought it was time for an empties post so here are all the products I’ve finished in July/start of August.

Batiste – Dry shampoo – Will repurchase, this stuff is amazing!

Sukin Face Moisturiser – Will repurchase, I swap between this and Natio Glow every morning before putting on makeup.

Alba Facial Scrub – Will repurchase, I love the scent and the exfoliating beads are not too harsh.

Chloe perfume – At first, I thought this scent was too “old lady” for me as I prefer fresh, fruity or ocean scents. However this grew on me and I do like it. Next time I’m in the market for a new perfume, this will be in contention.

Kora Organics lip balm – Not repurchasing. This started off really nice but as I got further through the tub it separated into lumpy bits. Not a fan of putting lumpy stuff on my lips, however this stuff is nicely hydrating.

Benefit Creaseless Eyeshadow – Won’t repurchase. I am a fan of the Benefit creaseless cream shadows, however I bought this one on sale from Strawberrynet and it was already a bit dry. These work HEAPS better than the MAC paint pots on me. I’m going to start using my primer with power shadows instead.

Jurlique lip  balm – Not repurchasing. I got 3/4 way through the tin and one day the lid decided not to open. Tried everything to get it open again but nothing worked.

Loreal makeup remover – Might repurchase. I think I like the Face of Australia one better.

MAC Mineralize skin finish – Wont repurchase. This is the 3rd formula from MAC I’ve tried. They’re all ok but none are my HG foundation.

Diorshow Iconic mascara – in waterproof black – Won’t repurchase, the brush is not as good as the regular Diorshow. I’m looking for cheaper more animal friendly alternatives.

Diorshow mascara – in waterproof black – Wont repurchase, this is my HG mascara and I love it, but I need to save money and find a cheaper animal friendly alternative.

Original Source Shower Gel – I really liked this shower gel. Liked feeling super fresh and clean after a workout, it also helped pick up my mood when I caught a cold this winter.

Naturistics body lotion – Wont repurchase. This was on sale in my local Priceline a while ago for like $2. This is the last of the 5 bottles I picked up and I’ve not seen it again. Very similar to the Kit pomegranate body lotion (which is awesome!) so I will be searching for another dupe.

Loreal Elvive shampoo and conditioner – Wont repurchase. I used to be able to use any shampoo and conditioner on my hair and it would be fine. About a year ago I had a hair dressing disaster which has left my hair brittle and dry ever since. This shampoo and conditioner is super hydrating and leaves my hair feeling nice and soft but I’m not a fan of the scent. Looking at natural/vegan alternatives to use in my hair.

Have you tried anything in this list?
Do you have a favourite?
Are you switching to more organic, natural, non animal tested products too?
